Potassium Experiment!
I remember doing an experiment at school with Potassium, the teacher dropped a bit too much into the tube and cause a complete mess.
Here is what was suppose to happen

Re: Potassium Experiment!
Ah, I put this in my list too! It's pretty spectacular. My favourite way to set this up is to pretend I've done it by mistake, the kids think it's hilarious!
When I read the title I assumed you meant just putting a lump of potassium in water and watching it fizz and whizz about. ( or explode if you're not careful!)

Re: Potassium Experiment!
We also saw the drop a lump in and watch it fizz about the bowl at speed! Another class had seen 'the exploding bowl' and since then the school had limioted the amount the teachers where allowed to drop in (pre cut bits).

Ah yeah, we did this! The teacher (normally a miserable sod) took us outside into the playground and filled a huge bucket with water, then dropped a large bit of potassium in and ran like hell as the water exploded everywhere. It is indeed a fun experiment!
